 Harmony
United Church families are committed to the United Church of
Canada's Mission and Service Fund (M&S Fund) that supports the
ministry and mission of the United Church. The M&S Fund supports
our worship life, and funds efforts promoting justice and peace, and
advocating for environmental reforms. This same Fund enables the
church to respond to human needs both in Canada and around the world
with development work, medical aid, emergency relief, and many
different kinds of community outreach and social programs.
Harmony Church
hosts two Turkey Dinners (Spring and Fall), a Roast Beef Dinner, Ham
Dinner and an annual Craft Sale. These fellowship and fundraising
projects enable us to also offer our support to many local outreach
programs: Gate 3:16, AIDS Committee of Durham, Simcoe Street Back
Door Mission, Foster Parents Plan, Sleeping Children Around the World
(S.C.A.W.) Adelaide House, Y.W.C.A., and Dennise House. Our church
choir entertains at Hillsdale Manor and our volunteers take their
turn working at the Hillsdale Tuck Shop and delivering Meals on Wheels.
Harmony welcomes
members of the AA Group and the Guide, Brownie and Pathfinder groups
to hold their weekly meetings in our church buildings. |
By
supporting the M&S Fund and other local outreach programs, we
are helping with God's work locally in our own community, in Canada
and globally throughout the world.
